I wont 'come down on you as the old guy...', but just for a little clarification: (this is for, all not pickin on you D)
The sax player who replaced LeRoi Moore (RIP) is Jeff Coffin
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Coffin
The man has some serious chops. He can bring a tear to your
eye with just one sustained note. I love how he fucks with Carter with the good old call and response. He can really
set a mood too.
Take Jeff and add this guy:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rashawn_Ross
and you have the ultimate mini horn section. Rashawn
provides some unique 'horn like' (or is it horny?....no,no.)
backing vocals as well.
Tim Reynolds finally dedicated himself full time shortly
after Leroi's death which also made a hell of a difference
for the better. The show they did the night that Leroi
died is a muthurfuckur. The sound is not the best,
(it doesnt toally suck) but it will make a grown man cry:

So, as with anything, you can take it or leave it. I've
heard plenty of times that DMB is just music for college
girls. I will agree with that to a certain extent. Yes.
But as far as musicianship goes, every member is off the
freakin charts. If you listen to #41 off the Crash CD and
are not moved, then you might wanna question the existence
of a soul. The latest studio effort ~Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King is absolutely incredible IMO.

So to those who 'dont get it', to itch your own.
One might think 'pretentious', but if you got it, flaunt it.
To me,DMB is the shit. Dave is like a bi-polar schitzo on
acid, with Rheumatoid arthritis-like chords.
Stefan Lessard is an extremely talented bassist.
And for the record: Carter Beauford is
on of the top 5 drummers alive in the world.

So put me down in the "love it!" catagory. And give it
another go adedhed68.

(again, this is not directed toward you D. I just happened
to respond to your post cuz I know you're nice :) )

Hey Craven, do either of those 2 guys who replaced Leroi play flute? If not, have they dropped the tunes that featured flute or just replaced it with horns or guitar?

Jeff is an excellent flautist.
(c'mon, at least paruze the wiki entry)
He plays:
Baritone Saxophone
Tenor Saxophone
Alto Saxophone
Soprano Saxophone
Clarinet
Bass Clarinet
Flute
Oboe

He is a master of the alto sax ~ just amazing.
Plus he plays the baritone sax damn well, which was Lerois
sax of choice. So, I believe with this talent that
they havent dropped any songs at all.
Thanks for playing :)

On a personal note, Im an excellent flatulentist. Been
practicing for years. I got about a 7 octave range after
some good bean dip. Unfortunately, my dog is the only one
that can stand my 'rehearsals'.

edit- no double negatives. shit...thats a double neg right there,,,,,,damn
